Firmware X.X.X

All Nintendo Switch consoles sold before July 2018 can use the Fusée Gelée Exploit to run Custom Firmware and Homebrew. Switches sold after this point may or may not be exploitable at this moment.

BEWARE: It might take time for your CFW to receive a compatibility update for a new official firmware.

What is the benefit of using Fusée Gelée to hack your Switch?

Using Fuséee Gelée you have the ability to run Custom Firmware on a 1st generation Nintendo Switch. The exploit (also known as ShofEL2) takes advantage of a vulnerability present in the Recovery Mode (RCM). The exploit requires a host such as a PC, Android phone to sent a payload for enabling the CFW. Fusée Gelée is a non-persistent exploit, so you’ll need to re-enable it on every reboot. The exploit runs before even the normal bootloader code, allowing a full system takeover. This means that even the official Switch operating system can be changed.

What are the benefits of using a Custom Firmware?

Custom Firmwares have both benefits and risks. Risks:

  • You risk having your account / console banned from official Nintendo Services

Benefits:

  • Install and run homebrew applications
  • Install and run emulators
  • Backup save game data to your SD Card
  • Modify save game data (cheating)
  • Manage your SD Card remotely using FTP
What is Custom Firmware and Homebrew?

Custom Firmware allows you to give homebrew more access to the system than standard userland homebrew. Homebrew describes software that is not authorized or distributed by Nintendo. This includes emulators, games, applications and tools.
